Public Hearing Regarding the Proposed Property Tax Increase
A public hearing (Truth in Taxation Hearing) regarding the proposed tax levy increase for Sesser-Valier Unit School District No. 196 for 2022 was held at Sesser-Valier High School Library at 5:50 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022.
Members Present: Acosta, Barry, Menser, Rounds, Sample, Spence, Stacey
Members Absent:
Staff Present: J. Henry, N. Page, K. Jones, L. Zimbro, B. Gunter, R. Payne, T. Masters
Visitors Present: Jason Hoffard
Superintendent Henry called the Truth in Taxation public hearing to order at 5:50 PM. He indicated that the purpose of this meeting was to hear any public input on the property tax levy increase. He explained that a tentative levy was adopted last month by the board with a 10.00% increase in operating funds with an overall levy increase (including debt service levy) of 8.32%. He distributed a copy of the November, 2022, Treasurer's Report and read aloud the District's cash reserve amounts as of November 30, 2022.
Superintendent Henry asked for any questions or comments. None were forthcoming.
Superintendent Henry closed the hearing at 5:56 PM.
