City of Sesser City Council met Jan. 30.

A special meeting of the Sesser City Council was held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ashmore. Roll call was called by Clerk Stacey as follows:
Rose Bacantin—here, Dana Laur—here, Wayne Shannon—here, Jeff Hamburger—here, Travis Zettler—absent, David Bates—here.
Item #1—TIF memos were tabled as they were not of a timely need and will be addressed at the regular meeting.
Item #2—Annexations—none.
Item #3 Mayor Ashmore explained the engineering agreement for work on city hall with Hurst-Rosche for the city hall renovations and the fees of the architectural engineering agreement will not exceed $20,000.00 without prior permission. Mayor Ashmore explained the needs of city hall—roof project, windows, HVAC system and mold removal. By getting this agreement signed, we will be looking at getting bid process started soon. A motion was made by Wayne Shannon and seconded by David Bates to approve the engineering agreement with Hurst-Rosche for the city all renovations. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.
Item #4 Mayor Ashmore explained the engineering agreement for work on the Opera House with Hurst-Rosche for the Opera House renovations as according to the DCEO grant. A motion was made by Jeff Hamburger and seconded by Dana Laur to approve the architectural and engineering agreement with Hurst-Rosche for the Opera House renovations in conjunction and according to the grants received from Illinois DCEO. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.
Item #5 Mayor Ashmore explained that the new accounts that needed to be opened at the Du Quoin State Bank were the USDA 00-07 account and the DCEO RLAC Wastewater W912P922C0010 and the signers would be the same as other accounts, Wayne Shannon, Mari Montgomery and Janette Dilliner. He also explained that these would be opened as government accounts and would accrue interest and if we have any other accounts that could be switched to government accounts they should also be changed.
A motion was made by Jeff Hamburger and seconded by Dana Laur to approve the opening of two new accounts at the Du Quoin State Bank—USDA 00-07 and the DCEO RLAC Wastewater W912P922C0010—with approved signers on the account being Wayne Shannon, Janette Dilliner and Mari Montgomery and the account being set up as a government account and if the city has any other accounts that can be changed to government accounts they should be changed if the account is allowed to accrue interest. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.
A motion to adjourn at 5:38 PM by Wayne Shannon and seconded by David Bates. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.
