Waltonville Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education met March 23.

Board meeting, held in the Waltonville High School FFA Room, was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Present: Anderson, Fassett, Norris and Schaefer. Absent: Banach, Klingler and Smith.
Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Schafer at 6:30 p.m. to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity, and student discipline. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Correspondence from the Waltonville Community Unit School District #1 (WCUSD1) staff and WCUSD1 Youth and Government delegation was shared with everyone present.
Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Fassett to approve the purchase of track equipment for the Waltonville Grade School track team at a cost of $4,938.48. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion carried.
Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klingler to approve the hiring of Loryn Carpenter as a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2023/2024 school year. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Abstain: Anderson. Motion carried.
Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Schafer to approve the rehiring of tenured teachers to include: Kenneth Bejamin, Lori Frank, Dawn Hamson, Chad Harper, Daryl Kiselewski, Kari Lappin, Anthony Lowery, Carrie Mayville, Michelle McGovern, Barbara Miller, Michelle Miller, Caroyln Phillips, Colene Stanley, Melissa Szopinski and Nicole Wisniewski. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klinger to approve the rehiring of third year probationary teachers to include: Jo Chapman and Nicole Wynn. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klinger to approve the rehiring of first year probationary teachers to include: Hannah Heitmeyer, Jaclyn Hoffard, Autumn Konkel, James Lance, Jenna LeBlanc, Issac McPhail, Jasie McPhail and Makayla Underwood. Motion by Schafer, Seconded by Anderson to approve the non-certified, administrative support staff, treasurer, nurse, janitorial staff and cafeteria staff recall list including: Michelle Patterson, Kim Lowery, Sharon Knox, Nicole Lamke, Hailey Norris, Melinda Bock, Elizabeth Bunton, Rachel Lewis. Melinda Trader, Angie Smith, Jamie Long, Valerie Curless, William Eastham, Terry Hale, Justin England, Kesha Steward, Mary Threewitt, Shirley Trader and Virginia Allen. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Fassett to approve the agreement with Glass and Shuffett for district financial audit for the fee of $10,000.00. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion carried.
