Ewing Northern Community Consolidated School District 115 Board of Education met July 16.

WAIVER TUITING HEARING AND REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Regular School board meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Board President Jonathan Edwards.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Karla Gunter, Jake Page, Pokey Squires, Jonathan Edwards, Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

Visitors present: Emily Milligan

President’s Comments: *Early Registration will be on July 27,28,31 for Pre-K—8th Grades. All registration items may be completed online. Parents should not need to come to school. Information for registration will be pushed out on Monday, July 17th.

*School starts Wednesday, August 16th for all students. A draft calendar has been posted and was attached in the registration information.

Consent Agenda: Motion by Pokey Squires to approve the consent agenda. 2nd by Jonathan Edwards 7 ayes (Caleb Suver, Jonathon Edwards, Karla

Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Jake Page and Emanuel

Building Addition: Mrs. Ing updated the board on current summer projects and discussed the building addition progress. No action taken.

Crisis Management Plan: MOTION by Pokey Squires to approve the 2023-2024 Crisis Management Plan. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 7 ayes (Karla Gunter, Jonathon Edwards, Pokey Squires, Caleb Suver, Jake Page, Ryan Skibo, and Emanuel Lowe)

School Handbook: MOTION by Jonathon Edwards to approve the 2023-2024 School Handbook with the following revision: Any student K-8 attending a field trip at Ewing Grade School (including band/choir trip) must be academically eligible to attend. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 7 ayes (Karla Gunter, Caleb Suver, Jonathon Edwards, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Jake Page, and Emanuel Lowe).

2nd Reading of Policies: MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the second reading of school board policies. 2nd by Pokey Squires. 7 ayes (Jonathon Edwards, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Emanuel Lowe, and Jake Page)

Executive Session: MOTION by Emanuel Lowe to go into Executive Session to discuss the assignment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2c (1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057. 2nd by Caleb Suver. Time in: 8:15 pm.

MOTION by Jake Page to come out of Executive Session. 2nd by Jonathon Edwards. Time Out: 9:15pm.

Non-certified Handbook: MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the 2023-2024 Non certified Handbook as presented. 2nd by Pokey Squires 7 ayes (Jonathon Edwards, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Emanuel Lowe, and Jake Page)

Set Salaries: MOTION by Jonathon Edwards to set non certified salaries as discussed. 2nd by Pokey Squires 7 ayes (Jonathon Edwards, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Emanuel Lowe, and Jake Page)
