Ewing Northern Community Consolidated School District 115 Board of Education met Aug. 21.

Regular School board meeting was called to order at 6:37 P.M. by Board Vice-President Jonathan Edwards.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Jake Page, Pokey Squires, Jonathan Edwards, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Ryan Skibo, Karla Gunter
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
Visitors present: Letha Wilson
President’s Comments: *First day of school was Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
*Baseball and softball season has begun. Baseball home games at Whittington and Softball at the school field.
*Cross Country season has started practicing and they have 3 students participating.
*Thank you to ENSO for the Back to School Aquatic Zoo Swim party. It was a great success and a lot of fun!

Curriculum & Instruction Mrs. Ing presented information on class size, schedules and curriculum for the 2023-2024 school year.
We have 216 total students plus 20 students enrolled in the Pre-K program with a waiting list.

Curriculum and schedules are going good. 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 6th Grade and 7th Grade are all split classes.
Summer Projects Update Mrs. Ing updated the board on current summer projects and discussed additional building needs.
*Landscaping around the new addition and front sign needs completed.
*We had to order a new fire extinguisher for the new addition.
*The US Map outside still needs painted.
Building Change Orders No change orders have been submitted. No action taken. Tentative Budget Mrs. Ing reviewed the 2023-2024 tentative budget.
Budget Hearing MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to set the Date and Time for the Budget Hearing to be Monday, September 18th at 6:15pm. 2nd by Pokey Squires. 7 ayes (Caleb Suver, Ryan Skibo, Karla Gunter, Jonathon Edwards, Pokey Squires, Emanuel Lowe, and Jake Page).
EIS Report Mrs. Ing presented the 2022-2023 EIS Position Report. MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the 2022-2023 EIS Position Report. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 7 ayes (Caleb Suver, Ryan Skibo, Karla Gunter, Jonathon Edwards, Pokey Squires, Emanuel Lowe, and Jake Page).
Executive Session: MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to go into Executive Session to discuss the assignment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2c (1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. Time in: 8:21 pm.
MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to come out of Executive Session. 2nd by Pokey Squires. Time Out: 8:38pm.
Uniforms/Fundraising MOTION by Pokey Squires to approve fundraising for sports and extracurricular activities as discussed. 2nd by Jonathan Edwards. 7 ayes (Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Jonathon Edwards, Pokey Squires, Jake Page, and Emanuel Lowe).
MOTION by Pokey Squires to approve the purchase of new basketball warm up jerseys from Treign in the amount of $750. 2nd by Jonathan Edwards. 7 ayes (Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Jonathon Edwards, Pokey Squires, Jake Page, and Emanuel Lowe).
Other *Mrs. Ing discussed Mrs. Hamson has secured another AED for the building.
*The new website is moving along and almost completed.
