Bluford Unit School District 318 Board of Education met Dec. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board President Jenny Sneed called regular School Board to order at 6:00 p.m. Upon roll call the following members were present: Crystal Marlow, Jessica Case, Kaitlyn Lewis, Doug Shafer, and Angela Schrum. Superintendent Adam Cross, Principal Ryan Robinson and Amanda Strothschein and Kim McCormick were present. Visitors were April Flexter, Ashley Snow, Kayla Wright, Carl Martin and Chris Richards were present.

Motion: C. Marlow- "to approve consent agenda."

Second: K. Lewis

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: C. Marlow, J. Case, K. Lewis, D. Shafer, A. Schrum, and J. Sneed. MOTION CARRIED.

Building reports, principal reports, and superintendent reports were all discussed.

Motion: A. Schrum- "to approve the 2023 Tax Levy for the Grade, High and Unit School District."

Second: C. Marlow

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: C. Marlow, J. Case, K. Lewis, A. Schrum, D. Shafer and J. Sneed. MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: K. Lewis- "to approve final reading of Board Policy Updates from October 2023 Press Plus Update 113 as presented."

Second: J. Case.

Motion: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: D. Shafer- "to go to executive at 6:11 p.m."

Second: K. Lewis

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: K. Lewis- "to come out of executive at 8:09 p.m.

Second: C. Marlow

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: C. Marlow- "to accept the letter of resignation from Beth Spangler as HS Secretary effective November 29, 2023."

Second: A. Schrum

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: K. Lewis- "to accept the letter of resignation from Kayla Wright 3rd grade teacher effective December 21, 2023 at the conclusion of teaching duties."

Second: J. Case

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: D. Shafer- "to approve Travis Helm as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for Boys High School basketball."

Motion: C. Marlow- "to hire Steve Walkington as Full time bus driver."
