Woodlawn Unit School District 209 Board of Education met Jan. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A regular board meeting was held on January 18, 2024 at Woodlawn Grade School. The meeting was called to order by Chad Phelps at 6:00 pm. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Sara Hays, Amy Orrill, Sandra Kabat and Rob Wielt with AGE.

Visitor Communication:

Rob with AGE spoke about the current Constellation contract that expires in June. He explained renewing a contract.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Josh Trout to go into closed session at 6:33 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1) and Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (5 ILCS 120/2 ©, (2)).

Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes.

Motion carried.

Michele Chesnek left after closed session.

A motion was made by Josh Trout and seconded by Chase Phelps to return to open session at 7:50 p.m.

Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Josh Trout to approve consent agenda items as presented.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chase Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to hire WGS Head night custodian Brandy Self at Step 5 Column B.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chase Phelps and seconded by Josh Trout to hire Joni Utlaut as the 2024-2025 kindergarten teacher at Step 9 BS.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion as made by Josh Trout and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to hire WHS baseball coach Jacob Frick.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

Items VII 1. Science teacher, special education teacher and approve WGS principal contract were tabled.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Chase Phelps to approve the Johannes Pay app #15 for $93799.00.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

Item VII 3. District electric supply contract renewal was tabled.

A motion was made by Josh Trout and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve and set graduation dates as follows:

WHS on May 10th, 2024 and WGS on May 14th, 2024.

Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes; Motion carried.

A motion as made by Chase Phelps and seconded by Josh Trout to approve the WHS Youth and Government overnight trip.

Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes; Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Chase Phelps to approve the review of the district return to learn plan.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chase Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve the agreement with FGM for rooftop units at WGS for $30000.00.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Josh Trout and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to adjourn at 8:46 p.m.
