Samantha Gasca, the nominee for Illinois State Senate District 19, recently shared her appearance on WTTW Chicago. Gasca is set to challenge incumbent Democrat Michael Hastings in the forthcoming general election.

"Thank you so very much, WTTW - Chicago PBS / WTTW News, for allowing those of us in the Republican Party, an opportunity to speak freely and contribute openly to conversations being had in homes around our communities," said Gasca, according to Facebook. "They are important conversations to be had politely. Thank you again for the opportunity of a lifetime!"

According to a report from WTTW News, Gasca discussed Donald Trump’s support among Latino individuals. The report was published a day after Gasca expressed gratitude on Facebook for the opportunity to share her views on WTTW. In the report, she addressed immigration as a significant concern within Hispanic communities in the 19th District. She suggested that Trump's strong stance on issues and his perceived "machismo" resonate with Hispanic voters.

"That’s how it comes across. And I think that sometimes that’s what they see, as opposed to wishy-washy. Because wishy-washy doesn’t get you anywhere, you have to stand for something," said Gasca. She also emphasized the importance of reaching out to younger Latino voters in order to secure an election victory.

The same report that quoted Gasca also referenced a poll conducted by The New York Times and Siena College. The poll indicated that "Hispanic voters could be favoring former President Donald J. Trump over President Joe Biden", with 46% of Latino voters preferring Trump compared to 40% supporting Biden.

Gasca has a diverse professional background spanning radio, counseling, and business sectors. Since March 2018, she has been serving as the Radio Program Content Coordinator and Data Analyst at Moody Radio. Her LinkedIn profile reveals that she also owns and operates God Heard LLC, a multifaceted platform established in July 2021 offering pastoral counseling, life coaching, and business consulting services.

Senate District 19 encompasses all or parts of numerous areas including Lockport, New Lenox, Mokena, Orland Park, Tinley Park among others. Currently represented by Michael Hastings (D-Frankfort), who has held the seat since 2013 according to Ballotpedia, the district will see Gasca challenging his incumbency in the upcoming election.
