Ewing Northern Community Consolidated School District 115 Board of Education met March 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order at 6:32 P.M. by Board President Jonathan Edwards.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Jonathan Edwards, Jake Page, Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Karla Gunter and Pokey Squires

MEMBERS ABSENT: Caleb Suver

Visitors present: Amy Minor

President’s Comments: *Volleyball Regionals start tonight, March 18, and we are hosting. Ewing will play tomorrow March 19th at 5:30, if they win they plat at 7:30 for the championship.

*The district is beginning the 4th nine weeks of the school year. The last day of school will be Thursday, May 23rd.

*Track season started today. Their first track meet will be March 25th.

*Three Ewing students qualified for the state Archery meet on Saturday, March 23rd—Brody Thomas, Harper Thiele, and Hayden Corn. Best of Luck to the Archers.

*Golf practices will start this week.

*State testing Illinois Assessment of Readiness will begin next week and finish up on Thursday, April 4th.

*Congratulations to Makala Bishop for being nominated as ICCA Coach of the Year.

*Important Dates for the end of the year:

A&B Awards Ceremony—Thursday May 9th at 6pm

Breakfast with the Board—Friday May 10th at Burton’s

Sports Recognition—Tuesday May 14th at 2pm

Graduation—Thursday May 16th at 6pm

Consent Agenda

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the Consent agenda. A. Approve minutes of the regular meeting February 20, 2023 and the special meeting on March 3rd, 2023. B. Approve to pay bills. C. Accept the Treasurers Report 2nd by Pokey Squires. 6 ayes (Pokey Squires, Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Karla Gunter, Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards).

Holidays

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to hold school on the following holidays for 2024-2025: Birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Casimir Pulaski. (District will be in attendance on Pulaski Day, Monday, March 3, 2025). The District will observe Presidents’ Day on February 17, 2025 for the 2024-2025 school year. 2nd by Pokey Squires. 6 ayes (Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Jonathan Edwards, Jake Page, Ryan Skibo, Pokey Squires).

Lunch Prices

Mrs. Ing discussed the lunch program and prices for the 2024-2025 school year. This agenda item was tabled. No action taken.

Member Arrived

Caleb Suver arrived at 6:55pm.

Summer Projects

Mrs. Ing discussed the initial plan for summer projects for the 2024 summer. No action taken.

Sports Policy

Mrs. Ing discussed the Sports Policy, Uniforms, and Staff for the 2024-2025 school year. No action taken.

Executive Session:

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to go into Executive Session to discuss:

The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2©(1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057.

The placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to the individual students. 5 ILCS 120/2©(10)

Rehire Non-Tenured

Rehire 1st Grade

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to Rehire Bryli Mischke as 1st Grade Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year: Sydney Noto. 2nd by Pokey Squires. 7 ayes (Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver).

Rehire Social Worker

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to Rehire Madison Hungate as School Social Worker for the 2024-2025 school year. 2nd by Jake Page. 7 ayes (Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver).

Rehire K-4 Special Ed.

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to Rehire April Villalobos as K-4 Special Education teacher contingent upon certifications. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 7 ayes (Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver).

Hire Admin 24-25

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to hire Kristin Ing as Superintendent/Principal for the 2024-2025 school year. 2nd by Pokey Squires. 7 ayes (Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Pokey Squires, Karla Gunter, Caleb Suver, Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards).

Assistant Principal

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to hire Amy Hamson as Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year. 2nd by Jake Page. 7 ayes (Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Pokey Squires, Karla Gunter, Caleb Suver, Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards).
