Woodlawn Unit School District 209 Board of Education met March 28.

A meeting of the Woodlawn USD #209 Building Committee was held on March 28, 2024 at Woodlawn Grade School. The meeting was called to order by Chad Phelps at 11:00 am. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Steve Downen from FGM Architects.

Visitor Communication: None

Steve Downen from FGM gave the committee an update on projects that are in the works, including the replacement of four rooftop HVAC units at WGS and the potential replacement of a fifth unit. Steve Downen also updated the board on the progress of plans to update the kindergarten classrooms, adding suspended ceilings in 4 classrooms, replacing the ceilings in various areas of WGS, boxing in a pipe run in the WGS old gym, and repurposing a custodial room into a staff restroom.

The committee toured WGS starting at 11:15 am.

A discussion was had regarding the pros and cons of potentially flipping the current pre-k classrooms with the current kindergarten rooms.

Kyle Ritchey left at 12:22 pm.

The committee will meet again to give firm direction to FGM on the scope of the kindergarten rooms. A meeting date was not set.

The meeting was adjourned by Chad Phelps at 12:55 pm.
