Village of Minooka Village Board met June 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Village President, Ric Offerman, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Trustees present: Barry Thompson, Ray Mason, Robin White, Dennis Martin, Terry Houchens and Gabriela Martinez. Also present: Dan Duffy-Village Administrator, Ryan Anderson-Superintendent of Public Works, Sean Kelly-Village Engineer, Chief Justin Meyer, Village Finance Director-Austin Haacke, Village Attorney-Mike Santschi, Village Clerk-Orsola Evola.

Public Forum

Mayor Offerman opened the public forum. Resident Richard Snow wanted to voice his concern on the solar farm. We won’t have any financial gain from these solar farms and wanted the board to keep that in mind. Glen Lindquist also voiced his concern for the solar farm. Theres a series of trails off of Mondamin and it would be a shame to destroy the trail into that road.He stated he’s not against solar power but why not put them on warehouses? Administrator Duffy mentioned there was a draft for property owners to put solar panels on them. We can’t control the school though. Trustee Thompson advised he thought he would be great if resident Lindquist wanted to reach out to state legislators. Our hands are tied but they if they are coming, we’d like them to annex so we have control. Resident Matt Milligan talked about murals and how great they would be for high schoolers or local artists. He also mentioned if they utilized the rock island train station as a museum it would be a great place for students to go. President Offerman agreed on the murals and said it would be a great idea.
