Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District 196 Board of Education will meet Dec. 9.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

I. A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District No. 196 for 2024 will be held on December 9, 2024, at 5:50 PM at Sesser-Valier High School, 4626 State Highway 154, Sesser, Illinois.

Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contact Jason D. Henry, Superintendent, Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District No. 196, 4626 State Highway 154, Sesser, IL 62884. The office telephone number is (618) 625-5105, Ext. 105.

II. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2023 were $1,557,988.30.

The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $1,713,785.00. This represents a 10.00% increase over the previous year.

III. The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2023 were $127,795.54.

The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2024 are $130,025.00. This represents an 1.74% increase over the previous year.

IV. The total property taxes extended or abated for 2023 were $1,685,783.84.

The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $1,843,810.00. This represents an 9.37% increase over the previous year.
