Ewing Northern Community Consolidated School District 115 Board of Education met Nov. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order at 5:05 P.M. by Board Member Jake Page.

President Pro-tempore: Jake Page is appointed as President Pro-tempore for this meeting.

Secretary Pro-tempore: Emanuel Lowe is appointed as Secretary Pro-tempore for this meeting.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Jake Page

MEMBERS ABSENT: Pokey Squires, Karla Gunter, Jonathan Edwards

Visitors present: Alli Stubblefield, Letha Wilson

President’s Comments 

* The Board would like to congratulate the students who won the Patriot’s Pen Winner Contest in grades 6th-8th. Jadelynn Saltsman, Westin Ing, and Ava Lowe

*Veterans Day Celebration went very well. The students did a spectacular job honoring our Veterans. Thank you to Mrs. Milligan and the students for an outstanding program.

*Christmas program will be Tuesday, December 17th at 6:00 and 7:00.

Consent agenda 

MOTION by Jake Page to approve the consent agenda; 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 4 ayes (Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Jake Page, Caleb Suver)

Summative Designation 

Mrs. Ing shared information on the summative designation that was released last month from the school report card. Ewing Grade School designated as an Exemplary school again.

Public Hearing 

Mrs. Ing presented information to the board and the public on the proposed Technology Protection Measures and Internet Safety Policy as set forth by the Children’s Internet Protection Act and the Neighborhood Protection Act.

Tax Levy

Mrs. Ing presented information regarding the property tax levy and adopted a Tentative Tax Levy for 2024 payable in the fall of 2024. The tax levy will be on display in the District office until the next Board meeting, December 16, 2024.

Item tabled to next meeting. No action taken.

SIJHSAA Intent to Play

MOTION by Jake Page to approve the SIJHSAA 2025 Calendar Year Intent to play fees. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 4 ayes (Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Jake Page)

Bus Lease

Item tabled to next meeting. No action taken.

Frank/Jeff Spec. Ed

Mrs. Ing presented information regarding the increase in annual Franklin Jefferson Special Education assessment and a three tear cost projection.

Into Executive Session

MOTION by Jake Page to go into executive session to discuss:

The assignment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2© (1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 4 ayes (Jake Page, Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver). In at 6:02pm.

Out of Exec Session

MOTION by Jake Page to come out of executive session and go into regular session. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 4 ayes (Jake Page, Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver). Out at 6:16pm.

Motion to hire

MOTION by Jake Page to hire Lisa Coucci as Head Girls Golf Coach. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 4 ayes (Emanuel Lowe, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver, Jake Page)

Other Mrs. Ing presented information to the board about Michelle Hampton being nominated for the Extraordinary Educator Award by the ROE.
