City of Sesser City Council met May 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

A special meeting of the Sesser City Council was held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 5:30 PM at City Hall. Mayor Ashmore called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM. Those in attendance were David Bates, Jeff Hamburger, Rose Bochantin, and Travis Zettler.

Agenda Item #1

Mayor Ashmore and the council discussed the hiring of individuals for the Water Clerk and the library.

A motion was made by Travis Zettler and seconded by Jeff Hamburger to hire Heather Kulich as Water Clerk starting on May 19, 2025, at $17.00 per hour plus insurance. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion Carried.

A motion was made by Jeff Hamburger and seconded by Rose Bochantin to hire Kelly Bareis as the Library Director starting on May 12, 2025, at $19.00 per hour and after 90 days $19.50 per hour and no insurance. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Travis Zettler and seconded by Jeff Hamburger to hire Brooklyn Petro as a part-time employee at the library with a maximum of 20 hours weekly/40 hour per pay period at $15.00 per hour starting on June 1, 2025. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion Carried.

Agenda Item #2

Mayor Ashmore explained the Delta Regional Authority Grant. A motion was made by Travis Zettler and seconded by David Bates to approve and pass Resolution #6-2025 a resolution for the Delta Regional Authority Grant approving the city would pay its portion of $64,347.50—reimbursable from TIF funds- if the grant applied for was received. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

Agenda Item #3

Mayor Ashmore explained the Letter of Request for Incentives/Request for Stipulated Agreement with the railroad. A motion was made by David Bates and seconded by Rose Bochantin to approve the Letter of Request for Incentives/Request for Stipulated Agreement with the railroad. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn was made by David Bates and seconded by Travis Zettler. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

Adjourned at 6:03 PM.
