Statewide test results: 75 percent of Field failed English language arts

Scores11

About 25 percent of Field Elementary School students passed annual English language arts assessments in 2017 and three quarters of students failed, according to a North Egypt News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, is administered to third- through eighth-graders in Illinois, testing them in reading and math based on Common Core standards.

According to Field Elementary School English language scores, about 25 percent met expectations and none exceeded them. Students whose results are in either category are considered to be most ready to move on to the next level and are most prepared for college or work.

Another 27 percent approached expectations, while 29 percent partially met expectations and 18 percent did not meet them. Students who scored in these categories are not ready for the next level of schooling, according to the test.

Test results at Field Elementary School, which enrolled 282 students in 2017, fell below state averages.

Statewide, 37 percent of students passed the test and 63 percent failed.

Of students statewide who passed, only five percent 'exceeded' expectations.
