Report: Mount Vernon spent $11,720 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Mount Vernon School District 80 is up 14 percent from five years ago, according to a North Egypt News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Jefferson County school district spent $10,273 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,720 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1428 to 1719.

Mount Vernon's spending in 2016-17 was 10 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
