Mount Vernon School District 80 Board met Oct. 29.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Mount Vernon City Schools, District 80 Board of Education met in a special meeting on Monday, October 29, 2018, at the Board of Education Office, 2710 North Street, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, at 6:00 p.m. President, Dan Knox called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The following board members answered roll call: Cleo Holt, Merle Hollmann, Alice Martin, Matt Reynolds, Brian Blok and Dan Knox. Absent: Lora Greathouse. Also present were Superintendent Aletta Lawrence, Assistant Superintendent Ryan Swan, and Connie Knowles, recorder.

AUDIENCE TO VISITORS

President Knox noted there were no visitors present at this board meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

CLOSED SESSION

Motion by Blok, second by Martin, to go into closed session for the purposes of hearing information regarding appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), and for the purpose of discussing pending litigation pursuant to section 2(C)(11) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11).

Roll Call: Ayes –Blok, Martin, Holt, Hollmann, Reynolds, and Knox.

Nays – None. Absent – Greathouse. Motion carried.

The Board adjourned to closed session at 6:01 p.m.

Superintendent Lawrence left the meeting at 6:01 p.m.

OPEN SESSION

The Board returned to open session at 8:17 p.m.

No action was taken on this agenda item.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Reynolds, second by Holt, to adjourn the meeting.

Roll Call: Ayes – Reynolds, Holt, Hollmann, Martin, Blok, and Knox.

Nays – None. Absent – Greathouse. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 p.m
