City of Mt. Vernon issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.
Aquatic Zoo Managers – Managers for the Mt. Vernon Aquatics Zoo must have prior pool management experience. Strong leadership skills mandatory with ability to supervise, train, and oversee aquatic staff. Assumes direct responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the filtration, sanitation, and overall safety of the facility. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal required. Must be proficient at balancing the money drawers and completing nightly deposits.
Aquatic Zoo Food Service Manager – Must have 3+ years prior food service management experience. Strong leadership skills mandatory with ability to supervise, train and oversee a staff of 12-15 in guest services. Assumes direct responsibility for oversight of the preparation of food, cleanliness in the kitchen area, and food sanitation. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal required. Must be proficient at balancing the money drawers and completing nightly deposits.
Star Guard Lifeguards – Lifeguards for the Mt. Vernon Aquatics Zoo must be certified through Star Guard (call the Parks office if you are a new lifeguard or are interested in becoming a lifeguard). The cost is $120 to become a Star Guard certified lifeguard, which will be reimbursed at the end of the summer after the lifeguard has worked all summer.
Guest Services Workers – Guest Services workers must be skillful in money handling, speaking with the guests in a friendly and professional manner and hold a food-handler certificate (available online for a $15 fee). Your $15 will be reimbursed when you have worked all summer.
