City of Orient City Council met Oct. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the Orient City Council was called to order by Mayor Loretta Umbenhower October 8, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Orient City Hall. The following council members answered roll call: Justin Boswell, Gary Metzger, Jim Sitzman, and Shawn Subbert. Matt Swanson was absent. Staff present, Della Kramer, City Clerk and City Attorney, David Grapentine. Visitors were Mark, Patten, Hollie Patten, Lois Patten, Terri Orr Guerrero, Curt Pals, Jodi Schrier and Sharon Mensing.

Motion made by Metzger, 2nd by Boswell to approve the September 10, 2018 meeting minutes and the payment of the bills. All voting aye, motion carried.

Discussion of Railroad properties – Council will put railroad properties on hold, pending assessor and legal information needed. Sharon Mensing gave an update on the library.

Maintenance Report: Motion made by Metzger 2nd by Sitzman to purchase a Three Phase Pad Mount -150 KVA for $7,234.00 and Five Single Phase - 25 KVA for $491.00 each for a total of $2,455.00 and a grand total for all for $9,689.00. All voting aye, motion carried.

Mayor Report: Motion made by Sitzman 2nd by Subbert to approve Lisa Swanson to represent Orient on the Adair County Tourism Council. All voting aye, motion carried.

Motion made by Boswell and 2nd by Sitzman to move $10,000.00 from Local Option Sales Tax Fund to the Fire Department Medical Fund to reimburse the Orient Fire Trustees for the Jaws of Life. All voting aye, motion carried. Motion made by Boswell 2nd by Metzger to have the City Clerk attend the Iowa User Group Meeting offered by Data Technologies Wednesday October 17, 2018 in Des Moines. All voting aye, motion carried. Motion made by Metzger 2nd by Sitzman to take the money received from the purchase of Orient Lake water to have its own account fund. All voting aye, motion carried.

Motion made by Sitzman, 2nd by Boswell to adjourn the meeting. All voting aye, motion carried.
