Report: Benton spent $8,529 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Benton Community Consolidated School District 47 is down 8.2 percent from five years ago, according to a North Egypt News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Franklin County school district spent $9,288 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,529 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1192 to 1159.

Benton's spending in 2017-18 was 36.1 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
