Analysis: Mount Vernon City administrators rank 382nd in state for average pay

Administrators in Mount Vernon City Schools District 80 earn an average of $101,275 per year, ranking 382nd out of 864 districts in the state, according to a North Egypt News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 16.2% higher than in 2014 and 14.9% higher than in 2009. District administrators make 5.6% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Jefferson County school district enrolled 1609 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 139 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
