Former state university employee Brennan paid in $5K to pension fund, could collect $158K in retirement

Former state university employee M. Elizabeth Brennan, who retired in December 2017, saved $4,650 toward a pension over 7 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Brennan would collect as much as $157,940, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Egypt News.

The projection assumes Brennan received $3,319 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Brennan will have already received $6,738 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
