SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital - Mt. Vernon issued the following announcement on June 3.
Eight (8) local high school graduates from the Class of 2019 have their sights set on a career in health care and the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital-Mt. Vernon Auxiliary is proud to financially support their college education by awarding them scholarships.
Scholarship winners, accompanied by their parents, attended a recognition dinner at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital on Thursday, May 30.
The 2019 awardees include: (front row left to right)
* Drew Owens, Benton High School, will be attending the University of Illinois-Chicago with the goal to become a doctor.
* Priyanka Kaushal, Mt. Vernon Township High School, will be attending the University of Illinois-Chicago with the goal to become a doctor.
* Kaijah Weller, Mt. Vernon Township High School, has selected the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to prepare to become a future anesthesiologist.
* Aaryana Stringfellow, Mt. Vernon Township High School, is enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis and will be pursuing a career in Neurological Sciences.

* Nicholas Sursa, Mt. Vernon Township High School, has selected Rend Lake College to begin preparations to become a nurse.
* Savannah Staples, Sesser-Valier High School, will be attending the University of Southern Indiana to study for a future career in healthcare administration, law, or dietary.
* Haden Harmen, Sesser-Valier High School, will be attending SIU-Carbondale to study Radiologic Sciences.
* Minh Nguyen, Mt. Vernon Township High School, will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study bio-medical engineering and to become a medical doctor.
