City of Mt. Vernon issued the following announcement on July 20.
The City of Mt. Vernon Public Department will be performing asphalt milling on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Approximately 2″ of asphalt will be removed in preparation for installing a new layer of asphalt pavement in the near future. The milling will be performed on the following streets:
Ellis Drive
Pace Ave. – 11th to 9th St.
Homestead Dr. – Rt. 37 to Fairway Dr.
S. 20th St. – Broadway to Casey Ave.
N. 42nd St. – Richview to Windsor Place subdivision
E. Perkins – Rackaway to RR tracks
Casey Ave. – 15th to 12th St.
S. 15th St. – Cherry St. to Conger Ave.
These streets will be closed to thru traffic at various intervals of this project. Please us alternate routes when equipment is present. We ask that residents use extreme caution in this area for the safety of our workers as well as the safety of motorists.
Special note to residents on subject streets: Your driveway access will be available for use except for a very short period of time when the milling machine is operating in front of your driveway. Please use caution when driving around the milling operations.
