Franklin County issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.
The Franklin County Board accepted County Board Vice-Chairman Stephan Leek’s resignation at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Leek, of West Frankfort, resigned in order to spend more time with his family according to Board Chairman Randall Crocker. Crocker then appointed Matt Donkin to fill Leek’s seat.
Donkin, who serves as school superintendent in West Frankfort, will serve the remainder of Leek’s term that ends Nov. 30, 2020. Donkin will be able to run for the seat in next year’s election.
Board member Neil Hargis of Christopher was then chosen to replace Leek as vice-chairman.
