Benton Consolidated High School District #103 Board of Education met Jan. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of the Benton Consolidated High School District #103 met in Special Session Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. in the District Board Room. Mark Minor, President, called the meeting to order.

Opening Prayer was led by Mark Minor. Mark Dyel led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board members present: Mark Minor, President; Robin LaBuwi, Vice-President; Mitch Bennett, Secretary; Shane Cockrum; Mark Dyel; and Mark Franklin. Board member absent, Kenny Irvin.

Others present: Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Ron Giacone, Board Attorney; Wade Thomas, Principal; Ronda Suver, Board Recording Secretary; student 103004911 and parent.

4. EXECUTIVE SESSION

4.1 Student Disciplinary Case

Executive Session – Robin LaBuwi made the motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss a student disciplinary case. Shane Cockrum seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried.

The Board; Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Ron Giacone, Board Attorney; Wade Thomas, Principal; Ronda Suver, Board Recording Secretary; and student 103004911 and parent entered into an Executive Session in the Executive Board Room at 5:01 P.M.

Open Session - The Board reconvened in an Open Session at 6:21 P.M. Mitch Bennett, Secretary called the roll. Answering present: Shane Cockrum – yes, Mark Dyel – yes, Mark Franklin – yes, Robin LaBuwi – yes, Mark Minor – yes, and Mitch Bennett – yes. Board Member absent: Kenny Irvin.

Others present: Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Ron Giacone, Board Attorney; Wade Thomas, Principal; Ronda Suver, Board Recording Secretary; student 103004911 and parent.

6. NEW BUSINESS

6.1 Possible Student Disciplinary Action Mark Dyel made a motion to approve the Resolution Regarding Expulsion as presented. Mark Franklin seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, members voted as follows: Mark Dyel – yes, Mark Franklin – yes, Robin LaBuwi – yes, Mark Minor – yes, Mitch Bennett – yes, and Shane Cockrum – no. Motion carried. A copy of this resolution has been attached to and made a part of these minutes.

6.2 Review/Discuss Future Facility Improvements

8. ADJOURNMENT Mitch Bennett made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:54 P.M. Robin LaBuwi seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried.
