City of Mason City Council met Feb. 24.

Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe
Council members physically present were Dan Mason, Gerald Mahin, Scott Francis, Kevin Snyder, Jim Miller, and Julie Mize. Also present were Treasurer Mike Griffin, City Clerk Michele Whitehead, Superintendent Wayne Dixon, Officer Justin Donovan, Amy Zieglowsky Wendy Martin.
Chairman declared quorum present.
The minutes of the February 10th, 2020 meeting were approved.
R20-16 Alderman Snyder moved, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve the minutes of the February 10th regular meeting.
Ayes: Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

The Council reviewed a proposed ordinance regarding the USDA/RD loan, in particular the bond portion. After reviewing the Council agreed to approve the ordinance.
O20-01 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve the ordinance 20-01 adoption of a bond ordinance, as follows:
ORDINANCE NO: 20-01
Adoption of AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND PROVIDING FOR AN ISSUE OF UP TO $4,795,000 WATERWORKS AND SEWERAGE SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, OF THE CITY OF MASON CITY, MASON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING A PART OF THE COST OF ACQUIRING, CONSTRUCTING, INSTALLING AND OPERATING WATERWORKS AND SEWERAGE FACILITIES IN SUCH MUNICIPALITY, PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT, SALE AND DELIVERY OF SUCH BONDS, AND MAKING CERTAIN COVENANTS IN PROVIDING FOR THE OPERATION OF THE WATERWORK AND SEWERAGE SYSTEM OF THE MUNICIPALITY AND THE COLLECTION, SEGREGATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE REVENUES TO BE DERIVED FROM THE OPERATION THEREOF.

R20-17 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve the 2020 MFT maintenance & engineering program in the amount of $94,081.18.

R20-18 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve closing the alley next to the Hideout the weekend of April 25th for a class reunion as requested Brad Snyder.
Ayes: Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Chairman declared motion carried.
Alderman Francis asked the Council to consider revisiting the issue of allowing slow moving vehicles on the city streets with specific guidelines. The city will look over the state ordinance and discuss at a future meeting.
