82 Jefferson County residents in their fifties test positive for COVID-19

As of September 30, there have been 82 Jefferson County residents in their fifties who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to numbers being reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

There have been 1,348 residents in their fifties in the county who had been tested, meaning that six percent of those tested have the coronavirus. Through September 30, there have been 641 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 38 deaths from the coronavirus in Jefferson County.

Illinois gathers all of its COVID-19 data from across the state electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it's transmission.
