Woodlawn Unit School District 209 Board of Education met Nov 12

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A regular board meeting was held at the high school. The meeting was called to order by Scott Owens at 6:00 pm. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Sandra Kabat, Belinda Kirgan, Sara Hays, Chad Taft, Wes Williams, John Burkett, John England, Matt Patterson

Visitor Communication: Chad Taft spoke to the board concerning the placing of a snow cone stand. Wes Williams, John England, John Burkett, and Matt Patterson spoke to the board about moving forward with sports and allowing kids to play.

A motion was made by Jeff Burkett and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve consent agenda items as presented.

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Steve Danner, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to go into closed session at 6:20 p.m.for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1) and Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (5 ILCS 120/2 ©, (2)).

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Steve Danner, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Steve Danner and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to return to open session at 6:34 p.m.

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Steve Danner, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes; Chad Phelps, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Steve Danner to approve basketball participation under Phase 1 guidelines.

Roll call vote was taken: Scott Owens, yes; Steve Danner, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes; Dianne Fritschle, no; Leslie Knox, no.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve option 2 of 100% full time in person for both schools beginning January 5, with a 2:10 dismissal Mon-Thurs and noon dismissal on Fridays.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Steve Danner and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve the tentative tax levy as presented.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

Item VII (4) was struck.

Item VII (5) was tabled.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve the fiscal year 20 teacher/administration salary report.

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Steve Danner, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes; Chad Phelps, yes;

Motion carried

A motion was made by Steve Danner and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to hire Melissa Hoffman as the grade school bowling coach.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Jeff Burkett to give the superintendent authority to hire a high school bowling coach.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.
