State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) is determined to fight back.

“There is an assault right now on Second Amendment rights and an assault on the issue of life,” Bryant said while appearing on WJPF Radio. "I would expect to see the fingerprinting bill pop up again requiring you to have fingerprinting for your FOID card.”

Bryant said she’d much rather see the FOID card requirement done away with all together and in the past she’s taken action in an effort to make that happen.

“I can fully support getting rid of FOID card and have in the past,” she said. “We’d love to get rid of FOID cards. I’m getting private messages every day where people are 18 moths, 12 months expired, but I don’t anticipate the democratic super-majority calling any of the bills that get rid of the card. What they tell me state police are doing now because they’re so far behind is ignoring those and only doing the ones that are brand new.”

As for the so-called parental notification bill that would make it where parents do not have to be notified when their underage daughter is seeking to have an abortion, Bryant has a simple message she wants everyone to hear.

“I’m never going to support a bill that says parents shouldn’t be notified if their daughter is going to try to have an abortion,” she said.
