Rend Lake College Athletics issued the following announcement on Nov.
The Rend Lake Warriors men’s golf team is adding a state champion to its roster for the 2022-23 season.
Chase Laack has signed to play with RLC next year. The 6’3” senior is following his outstanding career at Vandalia Community High School, which included a team Class 1A State championship this fall. The Vandals shot 616 to edge out North Shore County Day by a single stroke.
Laack placed second in the individual championship, finishing just two strokes behind the first-place winner.
Laack has been an integral part of the Vandals golf team dating back to his freshman and sophomore years, where Vandalia consecutively earned second-place honors in the South Central Conference. He also advanced to state in both of his undergraduate years.
During his junior year at VCHS, Laack led the Vandals to conference, regional and sectional championships. A state tournament was not held that year due to COVID restrictions.
“Chase's game is strong from tee to green, with no real weaknesses,” Warriors Head Coach Jeremy May said. “I love how he wants to continue to improve and how competitive he is! He will definitely be a player we are planning on counting on to lead us next season.”
The Rend Lake Warriors recently completed a successful fall season, including winning the 2021 Mineral Area Fall Classic in October.
