Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) recently thanked constituents for being involved in a Valentine's Day project.
According to SW Illinois News, Bryant has been collecting these cards since early January for delivery to seniors at area long-term care facilities.
"Thank you to everyone who donated Valentine’s Cards to my Valentines for Seniors Drive!" Bryant said in a Tweet. "We cannot wait to deliver these to the seniors of the 58th Senate District!"
Card donations for the project were accepted through Feb. 7, according to SW IL News.
"Help me bring some joy to seniors living in assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities throughout the 58th district," Bryant wrote in a Jan. 10 Facebook post, per SW IL News.
She has also been vocal in supporting her colleagues as they run for re-election, according to SW Illinois News.
“I am really proud to support Jeff Bullard for Jefferson County Sheriff, Dave Severin for State Rep. and Barry Vaughan for Appellate Court Justice,” Bryant posted on Facebook, per SW IL News.
According to SW IL News, Bryant was recently appointed to the Nonprofit Electric Generation Task Force, a group focused on carbon capture and debt financing option investigations for the Prairie State Energy Campus in Marissa.
“Prairie State is a vital economic driver that employs more than 600 permanent, full-time workers and stimulates an additional 800 jobs within Southern Illinois,” Bryant said, according to SW IL News. “Without Prairie State, 180 different communities would lose access to cheap and affordable electricity that provides power to more than 2.5 million families and businesses.”
She has also announced a fundraiser for her own reelection campaign, according to SW Illinois News.
“The people of the 58th district deserve a Senator with a strong conservative record,” Bryant said in a Facebook post, according to SW IL News. “My record as state senator reflects my pro-growth, pro-jobs, limited government philosophy. I’ve stood strong against what I think are executive overreaches and I’ve taken JB Pritzker to task for his failed handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
