Mt. Vernon, IL – Fifth District Appellate Court Justice Barry Vaughan announced yet another set of endorsements today. County sheriffs, past and present, and law enforcement officers from across the Fifth District agree that Justice Vaughan is a tough jurist who will uphold the law.
Many of these area sheriffs have watched closely as Justice Vaughan earned his tough reputation for giving sentences that fit the crime and for his willingness to impose maximum sentences on child abusers and drug conspiracy offenders—which is what lead to local media referring to him as “Maximum Barry.” Here’s why local law enforcement leaders say they are endorsing Justice Vaughan:

About Justice Barry Vaughan: Justice Barry Vaughan is an Appellate Court Justice who has served as a judge for nearly 20 years in his 30-plus-year legal career. He served 18 years in the Second Circuit before being nominated to the Fifth District Appellate Court by Supreme Court Justice David Overstreet and unanimously approved by the Illinois Supreme Court. Justice Vaughan is also a past president of the Fairfield Lions Club, the Hamilton County Rotary Club, the Wayne County Bar Association, and the Hamilton County Fair Association. He has been married for 32 years to his wife, Kimberly, and they have three children—Grant, Landon, and Kylee.
