Warriors fall to JALC in Region XXIV title game

87

The NJCAA Region XXIV Tournament was a roller coaster for Rend Lake.

The Warriors (25-31, 18-14) held on to beat Lincoln Trail 11-8 on Friday, only to fall 11-4 in a back-and-forth match with John A Logan on Saturday. A five-run eighth inning was The Lake's undoing in that one. The Warriors would have to win their way back to the championship.

Later in the day, RLC run-ruled Lake Land 10-0 in six innings and then beat Logan 11-4 on Sunday, forcing a final game later in the day with the Volunteers for the title. Despite Rend Lake's tenacity, it was all Logan in the championship. The Vols put up three in the first, two in the third, and six in the fourth on their way to a 16-0 win and advancing one step closer to nationals.

Sunday, May 14 vs John A Logan (L, 16-0)

The 2022 season for The Lake was just as up-and-down as their postseason experience. RLC Head Coach Walker Bullington booked some tough teams out of the gate. The Warriors went 2-11 in February, 9-8 in March, and 9-9 in April. Battling rain-outs like everyone else, the team finished May at 5-3, including the postseason tourney. In 2022, RLC was 25-31 overall and 18-14 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
