Illinois state Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) has received another key endorsement in his bid for reelection as he prepares to face Democratic challenger Van Ikner in the race to represent the state's newly drawn 118th House District.
Jacobs shared the news of his latest endorsement in a Facebook post this week.
"Thank you to the Associated Builders and Contractors of Illinois for endorsing my campaign!" Jacobs said in the post. "I support hard working Southern Illinoisans."
Jacobs previously received endorsements from his colleagues Reps. Patrick Windhorst (R-Harrisburg) and Blaine Wilhour (R-Effingham), the North Egypt News said recently. At the time of the endorsements, Jacobs said he was "proud" to receive support from other lawmakers with similar values including fighting anti-police policies, advocating for the conservative agenda, protecting life, and Second Amendment rights.
During the summer and fall, Jacobs visited with several community organizations including Herrin's House of Hope, where he was joined by several other community leaders; the News said. Jacobs shared information about his trip there in a Sept. 13 Facebook post, where he said, "Wonderful folks. House of Hope has fed 400,000 people in the last ten years!"
Jacobs was first elected to the Illinois House in 2020, the House website said. His legislative experience incudes serving on the Tourism and Higher Education committees.
