Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District 196 Board of Education met Dec. 12.

A public hearing regarding the need for and usage of Fire Prevention and Safety tax funds, as required by Section 17-2.11 of the Illinois School Code, was held at Sesser-Valier High School Library at 5:55 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022.
Members Present: Acosta, Barry, Menser, Rounds, Sample, Spence, Stacey
Members Absent:
Staff Present: J. Henry, N. Page, K. Jones, L. Zimbro, B. Gunter, R. Payne, T. Masters
Visitors Present: Jason Hoffard
Superintendent Henry called the public hearing to order at 5:56 PM. He explained that it is a legal requirement to hold this hearing when Fire Prevention and Safety tax funds are levied. A heating/ventilation/air conditioning project that is necessary and is funded in part through the Fire Prevention and Safety fund was presented and discussed. Superintendent Henry indicated that there are not sufficient funds available in the fire prevention and safety fund to finance the repairs needed, thereby necessitating the levy amount.
Superintendent Henry asked for any public questions or comments. None were forthcoming.
Superintendent Henry closed the hearing at 5:59 PM.
