Season Ends in Crossroads League Quarterfinals at Marian

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team saw its season end at Marian University in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals by a score of 87-74 on Tuesday, February 11.

Despite having only seven active bodies due to a myriad of injuries down the stretch, the Lady Cougars fought hard against the second-seeded Knights. MVNU trailed by just five at the break before hitting a wall in the third quarter. The Lady Cougars battled through the adversity until the very end and outscored Marian 22-16 in the fourth quarter.

MVNU shot the ball extremely well in its final game of the season as it hit 49% of its attempts from the field and 35.5% of its shots from distance. Stops on the defensive end were hard to come by for MVNU. The Knights shot 55% from the floor and 50% from deep.

Inside the Box Score

Sage Brannon scored 19 points in her last game in a Lady Cougar uniform. The senior had four steals and three rebounds as well.

Angela Roshak finished off her fantastic freshman campaign with 14 points on 7-11 shooting from the field. Roshak had five rebounds.

Madelyn Lawson had 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Emily Walker had a strong performance at the point for MVNU. The sophomore was a perfect 4-4 from the field, finishing with 10 points. The floor general had five assists to zero turnovers.

Rylee Pireu had nine points in her last game as a Lady Cougar. Pireu finishes her career with 1460 points, which is eighth all-time in program history. Pireu also ranks third all-time with 209 threes made.

Grace Vermilya had seven points off the bench on a perfect 3-3 night from the floor.
