Q3 2022 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Jefferson County?

There were 16 offenders living in Jefferson County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by North Egypt News.

The data shows 11 men and five women were released in Jefferson County. The median age of the parolees was 35. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced for a crime against justice in 2021, and the oldest was a 60-year-old woman sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2020.

The offender incarcerated the longest was John B. McCowen. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2019 when he was 48 years old. He is now 52.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the third quarter of 2022 in each Jefferson County.
