Q3 2021 Recap: 2 parolees from Franklin County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Franklin County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the North Egypt News.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 43. The younger parolee was a 39-year-old man sentenced in 2011, and the oldest was a 47-year-old man sentenced in 2020.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Jerry D. Roof. He was convicted in 2011 when he was 27 years old. He is now 39.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of sex crimes were paroled during the third quarter of 2021 in each Illinois county.
