Q2 2022 Recap: 5 parolees from Jefferson County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were five offenders convicted of drug crimes living in Jefferson County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the North Egypt News.

The data shows four men and one woman were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 40. The youngest parolee was a 29-year-old man sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 59-year-old man sentenced in 2020.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Brandon D. Harris. He was convicted in 2013 when he was 31 years old. He is now 40.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the second quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
