BUDGET HEARING

School Budget hearing was called to order at 6:16 P.M., September 18, 2023

MEMBERS PRESENT: Caleb Suver, Jonathon Edwards, Karla Gunter, Jake Page, and Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo

MEMBERS ABSENT: Emanuel Lowe

Visitors present: Gretchen Conley, Sydney Noto, Amy Hamson

Budget Review: The Board Members reviewed the Ewing-Northern CCSD #115 School Budget for 2023-2024 as presented by Mrs. Kristin Ing.

MEMBERS ARRIVE: Emanuel Lowe arrived at 6:28pm.

REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Meeting was called to order at 6:36 P.M. by Board President Jonathan Edwards.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Caleb Suver, Jonathon Edwards, Karla Gunter, Jake Page, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, and Pokey Squires.

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

Visitors present: Gretchen Conley, Sydney Noto, Amy Hamson

President’s Comm. *Open House is scheduled for Thursday September 28, 2023 at 6pm. The K-4thGrade music classes and choir will be performing.

*Softball and Baseball are going well and will begin Regionals on Tuesday. Girls will play their first game at home and the boys will play their first game at Woodlawn.

*Ewing Band will march in Benton Homecoming parade on Friday September 29, 2023. They will also play alongside the Benton #47 and Benton High School at the BCHS Homecoming football game on Friday Night. Students will perform at the half time.

Resolution 23-24 Budget MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to adopt a resolution for the school budget for the 2023-2024 school year; 2nd by Caleb Suver. 7 ayes (Jake Page, Jonathon Edwards, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe and Caleb Suver).

Building Addition Update No updates.

Annual Audit and AFR Mrs. Ing presented the 2022-2023 Annual Audit and Annual Financial Report. There were no findings this year and the district is at a 3.90 financial rating.

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the 2022-2023 Annual Audit and Annual Financial Report as presented. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 7 ayes (Karla Gunter, Jake Page, Jonathan Edwards, Pokey Squires, Caleb Suver, Ryan Skibo and Emanuel Lowe.)

Admin Continue PD MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the Administrator Continuing Professional Development Plan for 2023-2024. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 7 ayes (Emanuel Lowe, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Jonathon Edwards, Jake Page, Ryan Skibo, and Caleb Suver).

Board Policy Update MOTION by Caleb Suver to approve the reviewed Board Policy 7:180 Prevention of a Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment. 2nd by Pokey Squires. 7 ayes (Emanuel Lowe, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo, Jonathon Edwards, Jake Page, and Caleb Suver).

Into executive session MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to go into executive session to discuss assignment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2© (1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057 and the placement of individual students in special education program and other matters relating to individual students. 5 ILCS 120/2© (10). 2nd by Caleb Suver. 7 ayes (Jake Page, Jonathon Edwards, Emanuel Lowe, Karla Gunter, Pokey Squires, Ryan Skibo and Caleb Suver).
