Shawnee Community College District #531 Board of Trustees met Dec. 4.

A special meeting of the Board Finance Committee of Shawnee Community College District No. 531 was held December 8, 2023 in the Founders Room and via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Andrea Witthoft at 9:00am.

V. Presentation, Discussion, and Action Items

A. Presentation by Martin Hood

i. FY23 Audit Results

Martin Hood presented the results of the FY23 College/Foundation audit via Zoom. There were no findings. Wade and Mike will be available on December 14 during the Board of Trustees Meetings for any additional questions.

B. Insurance Rates

i. Health

Chris Clark presented information regarding the health insurance rates that were negotiated for the next calendar year. A committee will be formed (and meet throughout the year) to investigate future health care entities and costing.

ii. Bushue Insurance Approval

Chris Clark presented information regarding the increase in insurance and liability rates.

C. Budget Forecasting

Chris Clark presented on the budget forecasting model and the various options to consider for the upcoming fiscal years.

D. Program/Unit Cost Models

Dr. Taylor presented on the program and unit cost model and demonstrated the fixed and variable information affecting future structures.

E. Creative Tuition Strategies

Chris Clark presented the members with a listing of questions to consider when brainstorming on creative tuition strategies.

The meeting adjourned at noon.
