Waltonville Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met July 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Regular board meeting called to order at 6:30 P.M. Present: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Absent: Kash.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Anderson to go into closed session at 6:32 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity, and student discipline. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Klinger to go into open session at 7:06 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Fassett to approve the consent agenda & two vacation requests for 2024-2025 school year. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Lamke to approve the High School gym floor recoat with Hillyard at a cost of $4,102. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Osborn to increase the non-certified staff health insurance benefit to $350.00 per month. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, and Osborn. Abstain: Lamke and Norris. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Osborn to approve hiring Taylor Williams as sub cook at $15.50 per hour for the 2024-2025 school year Pending outcome of the employment history review according to P.A. 102-0676. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Anderson to approve hiring Rikki Kirkpatrick at $15.50 per hour as a Grade School Paraprofessional for the 2024-2025 school year Pending outcome of the employment history review according to P.A. 102-0676. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Fassett to approve the board policy updates: 4:70, 4:80, 5:130, 5:200, 6:140, 2:70, 2:125, 2:160, 4:15, 5:180, 5:290, 5:310, and 6:110. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Klingler to approve the Superintendent to build the FY2025 school budget. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Lamke, Seconded by Anderson to approve the semi-annual review of closed session minutes to remain closed for: October 26, 2023, November 27, 2023, December 18, 2023, February 22, 2024, March 21, 2024 and May 24, 2024. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klingler to approve destruction of all closed session verbatim recordings prior to January 29, 2023. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klingler to approve the purchase of grade school cheerleading uniforms at a cost of $6,587.20. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Klingler to approve the purchase of a new server for the school at a cost of $9,337.75. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Lamke to approve additional door security access for the Wellnes Center at a cost not to exceed $11,377.00. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.
