Woodlawn Unit School District 209 Board of Education met July 18.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

Members Absent

A regular board meeting was held on July 18, 2024 at Woodlawn Grade School. The meeting was called to order by Jeff Burkett at 6:00 pm. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Sandra Kabat, Neesa Hayse, Chris Braden, Amy Orrill and Katie Schrementi

Visitor Communication: None

A motion as made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Josh Trout to approve consent agenda items as presented.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chase Phelps and seconded by Michele Chesnek to go into closed session at 6:06 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1) and Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (5 ILCS 120/2 ©, (2)).

Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes; Jacob Frick, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Josh Trout and seconded by Jacob Frick to return to open session at 8:03 p.m.

Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes; Jacob Frick, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Jacob Frick and seconded by Josh Trout to hire Chris Braden as WGS Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Michele Chesnek to hire Paula Ross as a paraprofessional on Step 9.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried

A motion was made by Jacob Frick and seconded by Josh Trout to hire Bailey Morton as a paraprofessional on Step 0.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve Shores Pay Application #1 for $51,331.87.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Josh Trout to approve Baer Pay Application #1 for $1,347.30.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Jacob Frick and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve the Prairie Farms milk bid for 2024-2025.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Chase Phelps to approve board policies Press 115 as presented.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Jacob Frick and seconded by Josh Trout to approve the Frank/Jeff schedule of payments.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Jacob Frick and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to adjourn at 8:27 p.m. Members voted: Chad Phelps, yes; Josh Trout, yes; Chase Phelps, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes; Jacob Frick, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes.
