Waltonville Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 22.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Regular board meeting called to order at 6:28 P.M. Present: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Absent: None.

Presentation by Bob Frakes on the Miners Memorial.

Motion by Kash, Seconded by Fassett to go into closed session at 6:49 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity, and student discipline. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Klinger to go into open session at 8:15 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Klinger to approve the consent agenda. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Lamke to approve the contract with Security Alarm for install of door access on the Wellness Center at a cost of $9,977.02. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Fassett to approve Kim Lowery as temporary golf coach for the 2024- 2025 school year. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Kash to approve volunteer coaches Mackenzie Berkemeier(JH Softball), Brian Shaw(JH Softball) and Danny Lowery(HS Girls Golf) for the 2024-2025 school year. Pending the outcome of the employment history review according P.A. 102-067. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Osborn to approve resignation of sponsors Hailey Norris (Junior Class), Jamie Long (Junior Class) and Nicole Wynn (GS Scholar Bowl). Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Kash to approve class sponsors Jaid Burkett (Junior Class) and Jo Chapman (Junior Class) for the 2024-2025 school year. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Lamke to approve Isaac McPhail as GS Scholar Bowl Sponsor for the 2024-2025 school year. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Fassett to approve the FY2025 Tentative District Budget. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Kash, Seconded by Osborn to approve a public hearing to adopt the FY2025 budget, Monday September 23, 2024 at 6:15 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Kash to approve Benay Walker to perform training to outside entities. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Kash to adjourn at 8:50 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Norris, and Osborn. Nay: None. Motion Carried.
