The specifics of the request included a comprehensive list of all council members with certain fields. These fields encompassed their names, titles, years of appointment, term lengths (whether two or four years), and the dates when their terms are set to expire.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Egypt News believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We await a response from the Benton City Council regarding this matter.
