FOIA Request to West Frankfort City Council Regarding Comprehensive Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Egypt News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the West Frankfort City Council in Illinois. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The information sought includes a list of all council members with specific details such as their names, titles, years of appointment, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates. We believe this data is crucial for maintaining transparency in local governance and holding public institutions accountable.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of dissemination.
We have also sought a fee waiver for this request citing our role as a media professional involved in disseminating information to the public.
