Ewing Northern Community Consolidated School District 115 Board met May 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

School board meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. by Board President Jonathan Edwards

MEMBER PRESENT: Ryan Skibo, Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Caleb Suver, Emanuel Lowe, Kyle Neal

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

Visitors present: April Harmon

President’s Comments:

• Congratulations to the Boys’ Golf team winning their Regional. There were 5 students that advanced to state: Jakson Page, Blake Hofmann, Kolten Jones, Caleb Weinbauer and Jacee Meacham. Jakson Page was the individual regional medalist.

• A and B Ceremony will be Thursday, May 15th at 6:00. The Foundation Brick ceremony will be at 5:45pm.

• Breakfast with the Board will be Friday, May 16th at 8:15 at Burton’s. All board members are welcome.

• Graduation will be Thursday, May 22nd at 6:00 in the school gymnasium.

• State Track did very this year with two students qualifying for state and placing at state. The Boys track team won 3rd in state! Congratulations to all!

o Logan Carlton – 1st place in 7th Grade 100 meter, 5th place in long jump, 7th place 200 meter and a member of the 1st place 7th grade relay team.

o Jake Webb placed 2nd in the 7th Grade 100 meter and a member of the 1st place 7th grade relay team.

o Boys 7th grade 4x200 Relay Team won 1st—Logan Carlton, Kane Edwards, Hudson Munoz and Jake Webb.

o The team as a whole had an outstanding day. Congratulations to all athletes and coaches on an outstanding season.

• End of the year dates to know:

o May 23, 27 and 28 students will dismiss at 1pm.

o Thursday, May 29th students will dismiss at 11:30 and that is the last student attendance day of the year.

o Teachers’ last day is Friday, May 30th.

• Students’ first day of attendance for the 2025-2026 school year will be August 14th.

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve the consent agenda, minutes, Treasurers Report and pay bills; 2nd by Caleb Suver. 6 ayes (Ryan Skibo, Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Kyle Neal, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver).

24-25 Amended Budget 

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to display the 2024-2025 Amended Budget. 2nd by Ryan Skibo. 6 ayes (Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Kyle Neal, Jonathan Edwards, Ryan Skibo, Caleb Suver).

Amend Budget Hearing 

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to set the Amended Budget Hearing for Monday, June 16th at 6:15pm. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 6 ayes (Emanuel Lowe, Kyle Neal, Jonathan Edwards, Ryan Skibo, Karla Gunter, Caleb Suver).

Federal Needs Assessment

Mrs. Ing went over the Federal Needs Assessment (Title I and Title II. No action taken.

Summer Projects

Mrs. Ing reported on and discussed summer projects. MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve spending no more than $75,000 on new floors based on quotes received. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 6 ayes (Kyle Neal, Ryan Skibo, Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver).

Board Policies

Mrs. Ing presented the 1st reading of board policies.

Athletic Uniforms

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to softball uniforms as discussed. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).

In To Executive Session

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to go into Executive Session to discuss:

The assignment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2© (1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057. 2nd by Ryan Skibo). In at 8:08 pm.

Out of Exec session

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to come out of executive session and go into regular session: 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. Out at 8:55 pm.

Set Special Meeting

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to set a special board meeting for June 2nd at 4:30pm to interview for the open board seat. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).

Resignation

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to accept the resignation of Tyler Thompson as 5th Grade Basketball Coach. 2nd by Ryan Skibo. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).

Volunteer Coaches

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve Ryan Skibo as volunteer assistant basketball coach. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 5 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal). Ryan Skibo abstained.

Volunteer Coaches

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to approve Carly Holman and Brooke Wyant as volunteer cheer coaches and Cody Hiller as Warrior Fundamentals coordinator with expectations of the program as stated.2nd by Ryan Skibo. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).

Hiring

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to hire Lukas Wilson as 5th Grade basketball coach. 2nd by Caleb Suver. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).

Hiring

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to hire Morgan Howell as a Special Education Aide. 2nd by Ryan Skibo. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).

Hiring

MOTION by Jonathan Edwards to move Ronda Yung from full-time to part-time beginning the 2025-2026 school year. 2nd by Emanuel Lowe. 6 ayes (Jonathan Edwards, Karla Gunter, Ryan Skibo, Emanuel Lowe, Caleb Suver, Kyle Neal).
