Bluford Unit School District 318 Board of Education met May 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board President Jenny Sneed called the meeting to order at 6:p.m. Upon roll call the following members were present: Crystal Marlow, Katelyn Lewis, Josh Scott, and Steve Tate, Superintendent Adam Cross and Principal Amanda Strothschein and Ryan Robinson and Kim McCormick were present. Visitors were April Flexter, John Kiel, Kevin Withrow and Caleb Talley

Steve Tate took the oath of office

Motion: Tate-"to approve consent agenda."

Second: Lewis

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: Marlow, Lewis, Scott, Tate, and Sneed. MOTION CARRIED.

The Superintendent's report included FY25 Tentative Amended budget. The budget is on display at the district office. Graduation ceremonies, scholarship nights, principal and maintenance reports were acknowledged. District retirees Lyna Benson and Ann Farley will be honored on May 29.. FOIA request from SmartProcure this month.

Motion: Marlow -"to accept Fuel Bid from Synergy for FY26."

Motion: Lewis -"approve the First Reading of Board Policy Updates from April 2025 Press Update 118, as presented."

Motion: Tate-"to approve Letter of Engagement for Dennis Rose and Associates to complete the FY25 audit."

Motion: Lewis -"to go to executive session at 6:12 p.m.

Motion: Lewis-"to appoint Kevin Withrow and Caleb Talley to fill the vacant positions on the Board of Education by Jessica Case and Doug Shafer."

Motion: Marlow-"to accept the letter of resignation from Amanda Korte as Grade School girl's assistant basketball coach, effective immediately.

Second: Tate

Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: Scott-"to accept the letter of resignation from Jackson Pierce as High School History/Drivers Ed Teacher, HS XC Coach, HS Girls Basketball coach, and HS Boys Track Coach, effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year."

Motion: Tate-"to accept the letter of resignation from Hannah Pierce as Grade School Special Ed Teacher, GS XC Coach,and HS Girls Track Coach, effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year."

Motion: Lewis -"to hire Jessica Case as Grade School Head Softball and Grade School Head Girls Basketball coach for 2025-26 school year."

Motion: Marlow -"to hire Emily Oglesby as Grade School Asst. Softball and Grade School Girls grade volunteer Basketball coach for 2025-26 school year."

Motion: Scott-"to hire Leanne Habermaas and William Boots as Temporary Summer workers."

Motion: Tate-"to hire Sierra Faivre as an Aide for BUSD for the 2025-26 school year. Pending certification and background check."
