Bluford Unit School District 318 Board of Education met June 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board President Jenny Sneed called the regular meeting to order at 6:00. Upon roll call the following members were present: Crystal Marlow, Katelyn Lewis, Josh Scott, and Steve Tate. Superintendent Dr. Cross, Principal Amanda Strohschein, Kim McCormick and Ashley Raney were present. Visitors were Ashley Snow, Stacey Hulbert, Bob Bertrand, Caleb Talley, Kevin Withrow and Jenny Allen.

Motion: Lewis-"to approve the seating of Kevin Withrow and Caleb Talley to the Board of Education."

Second: Tate

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: Marlow, Lewis, Scott, Tate and Sneed. MOTION CARRIED.

Caleb Talley and Kevin Withrow took the oath of office and seated on the Board.

Motion:Tate-"to approve the consent agenda."

Second: Scott

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: Marlow, Lewis, Scott, Tate, Withrow, Talley, and Sneed.

Motion Carried.

Superintendent's Report, principal and building reports, FOIA were discussed.

Motion: Talley-"to approve the FY2025 amended Budget."

Second: Tate

Motion Carried.

Motion: Lewis-"to approve the final reading of Board Policy Updates from April 2025 Press Plus update 118."

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: Lewis-"to approve the first reading of the 2025-26 Student/Parent Handbook updates as presented."

Second: Withrow

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion; Marlow-"to approve the 3-year Strategic Plan for the Bluford Unit School District #318."

Second: Tate

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED.

Motion: Scott -"to appoint Kevin Withrow to the Franklin Jefferson Special Education governing board and Caleb Talley to the Parent Teacher Advisory committee."

Motion: Marlow-"to approve transfer of Emily Schumm to HS Science Teacher (9 month position) for 2025-26 school year, pending completion of licensure by May 2026."

Motion: Scott-"to hire Grant Smith as HS History teacher for the 2025-26 school year, pending background check and completion of licensure by May 2026."
